White House Announces Illinois City Troop Dispatch
A press secretary for the administration confirmed that Donald Trump had authorized using Chicago-area national guard members, citing what she labeled “continuing unrest and unrest” that local leaders have not quelled.
On the West Coast, federal judge the presiding judge agreed with the position of local officials that Trump dispatching national guard troops to the Oregon metropolis would likely inflame rather than settle protests.
“The court's decision validates what residents of Oregon already know: justice has been served, and reality triumphed,” Oregon’s governor said following the legal injunction was granted. “No uprising is occurring in Portland. National security is not at risk. No fires, no explosives, no deaths due to civil unrest.”
State Leader Labels Decision Needless
The Democratic chief executive, JB Pritzker labeled the action unnecessary and “a manufactured performance – lacking genuine intent to safeguard the community.”
Judicial Official Prevents Oregon City Forces Dispatch
The President has suffered a setback to his approach of sending troops to municipalities with Democratic mayors he describes as out of control, after a US district judge halted his government's effort to deploy the state militia to Portland, Oregon.
Trump had declared on September 27 that he would send forces to the municipality, “approving Complete Power, if needed”, disregarding requests from municipal leaders and the state’s congressional delegation. A group of multiple municipal chiefs in the region had resisted the deployment.
